The revamped Terrigal Beach House – JUST 1.5 HOURS FROM SYDNEY – serves up FINGER-LICKING favourites JUST METRES FROM THE BEACH.
With a new name and a fresh new menu, the old Florida Beach Bar on the ground floor of Terrigal’s Crowne Plaza has a new lease on life. And it’s all the better for it.
With chef Joshua Ryan at the helm (formerly of Sydney gastro pub The London in Paddington), Terrigal Beach House has become a go-to favourite for locals and day trippers since its relaunch last month.
With a regular cavalcade of just-walked-off-the-beach specials, it’s the perfect spot for a quick bite, a leisurely lunch or a boozy beachside get together.
Terrigal Beach House is a multi-functional dining area, featuring a 30 metre-long indoor bar and restaurant and a casual outdoor terrace.
The interior features soft sandy tones and textural timbers while outside it’s wide bench tables, yellow beach umbrellas and live acoustic music.
More than beer and burgers.
The terrace is popular with the weekend lunch crowd, especially in summer, so book ahead to avoid disappointment.
On a Sunday afternoon, when the swell is up and the sun is shining, it’s the perfect spot to see out the weekend as the waves crash on the beach just metres away.
We stopped in for lunch on a recent day trip from Sydney, and enjoyed a selection of mouth-watering starters (pictured above).
Although there’s a full menu that includes steak, salmon, pasta, pizza and burgers, the collection of small plates was more than satisfying. There’s also a kid’s menu for fussy young eaters.
The prawn tostadas included grilled prawns, avocado, tomato, coriander, pickled red onion and blackened lime on wonton wrappers that had been deep fried.
The glazed chicken wings were finger-licking good – smothered in sesame, soy, honey and topped with green chilli and shallots.
The fish tacos were a favourite, with crispy flathead smothered with sour cream, spicy tomato, lettuce and radish.
This is pub style food with a holiday, beach vibe. It’s fresh and vibrant and hard to be disappointed.
The hotel and restaurant also takes COVID protocols seriously, with every customer required to check in on entry.
Terrigal Beach House is located on the ground floor of the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 40 Terrigal Esplanade, opposite the beach.
On-street parking is a nightmare on weekends, so head to the multi-level parking station on Wilson Road, behind the Crowne Plaza.
